ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – After a rigorous search process, The St. Johns Cultural Council is pleased to announce that Jeff Potts has been selected as the new Executive Director, following Christina Parrish Stone’s retirement.

Mr. Potts brings more than 25 years of professional experience in community and business development; nonprofit administration; tourism and events; and marketing communications, with him to St. Johns Cultural Council. In previous roles in Wisconsin and Virginia, Potts was responsible for bringing historic theatre buildings back to life while simultaneously building the organization’s infrastructure and programming models. He spent the last year serving as first managing director for GableStage in Coral Gables, Florida. Potts is also a former entertainment journalist, tourism marketing director, and executive director of a Habitat for Humanity affiliate and earned an Executive MBA and an undergraduate communications degree from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

“My varied experience and passion for creative placemaking and community development align perfectly with the mission and goals of the Cultural Council,” Potts said. “I am excited to work with the current staff in a shared effort to grow the Cultural Council’s role as an indispensable resource for St. Johns County’s arts, culture and heritage.”

“We are incredibly excited to have Mr. Potts as our next Executive Director,” said Board President Melinda Bergbom. “He brings a wealth of experience which we believe will significantly contribute to the continued success of the Cultural Council.”

Potts will officially start his role on February 3, 2025. The St. Johns Cultural Council board and staff look forward to working under his leadership and is confident that he will guide the Cultural Council to reach its full potential as St. Johns County’s designated local arts agency.
