BUNNELL, Fla. — On October 3, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team and Special Investigations Unit served a narcotics-related search warrant at 4657 Canal Avenue in Bunnell.

This search warrant was obtained after an undercover narcotics purchase. SIU detectives had also obtained an arrest warrant for Spencer Sarmento, a convicted felon, for Trafficking Fentanyl and Unlawful Use of a Two-Way Communications Device.

Another drug house was closed for business and Spencer Sarmento was taken into custody.

During the residential search, an AR-15 style rifle and various types of ammunition were located inside the poison peddler’s home. After the search was completed, Sarmento was also arrested for Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon, three counts of Possession of Ammunition by a Convicted Felon, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana (20 Grams or More), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Sarmento was transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, where he is being held on a $123,000 bond.

Sarmento has an extensive criminal history, having been arrested more than 20 times since 2010 on 34 different charges — 19 of which were felonies.

“Another poison peddler found out the hard way that selling drugs in Flagler County was a mistake when our SWAT team raided his poison peddling business,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “Our team did a great job getting this convicted felon back off the streets and the illegal drugs he was trying to sell out of our community. If you are a poison peddler in Flagler County, we’re coming for you next, so you better get out of Flagler!”
