The Jewish Federation of East Central Florida has announced an exceptional lineup for its 2026 Distinguished Lecture Series, featuring nationally recognized leaders in journalism, diplomacy and advocacy. Community members are invited to mark their calendars for three inspiring events that promise meaningful conversation, education and engagement.

The series begins on Sunday, Aug. 23, 2026, at 7 p.m. at Temple Beth-El (TBE) with Sarah Hurwitz, acclaimed author, former presidential speechwriter, influencer and appointee to the United States Holocaust Memorial Council. Hurwitz will help attendees welcome the Jewish New Year while sharing insights from her bestselling book, As a Jew: Reclaiming Our Story from Those Who Blame, Shame, and Try to Erase Us.

The second event takes place on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026, at 7 p.m. at Temple Beth-El, featuring Ambassador Elan Carr. A respected American attorney, diplomat and CEO of the Israeli-American Council, Carr previously served as the United States Special Envoy for Monitoring and Combating Antisemitism. His presentation will coincide with the community’s October 7th commemoration and will offer valuable perspectives on combating antisemitism and strengthening global Jewish advocacy.

The series concludes on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2026, with Jonah Platt, an American actor, singer, podcaster, influencer and Jewish advocate. Platt will participate in two events that day, beginning with the Pacesetters Dinner at 5 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center (JCC), followed by a Community Lecture at 7:30 p.m. at Temple Beth-El.

The Distinguished Lecture Series is made possible through the generous support of the Endowment of the Jewish Federation, the Jewish Federation Campaign, and a growing group of community sponsors.

Individuals and businesses interested in becoming sponsors may contact Rabbi Rob Lennick at 479-616-7372 for additional information.

These special events offer an opportunity for the community to hear from influential voices addressing history, identity, leadership and the issues shaping today’s world.
