BUNNELL, FL – With Flagler County students on Spring Break from Friday, March 15 to Sunday, March 24, residents should expect an increase in activity across county beaches, parks, and roadways. However, this increased activity brings a greater potential for opportunistic criminals. The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office will work hard to keep our residents and visitors of Flagler County safe during Spring Break with high visibility, proactive patrols, and other law enforcement efforts.
FCSO’s Community Policing Division will be conducting extra patrols around beaches, parks, retail shopping centers, and other high-traffic areas to deter criminal activity. This includes high visibility in parking areas to deter crimes of opportunity such as vehicle burglaries. FCSO reminds residents to do their part to protect their belongings and follow these basic crime prevention tips:
- Lock your car doors at all times, but especially overnight.
- Don’t leave valuables in plain sight. This includes purses/handbags, cell phones, and packages.
- Keep your garage door closed if you are not in the garage.
- Be aware of your surroundings at all times.
- Report any suspicious activity by calling the FCSO non-emergency line at 386-313-4911.
Additionally, an increase in vehicular traffic is anticipated so FCSO will have increased efforts to keep Flagler County roadways safe. Members of the FCSO’s Traffic Enforcement Unit will provide extra visibility on all major roadways in an effort to target speeding and aggressive driving, and to reduce crashes in high-traffic crash locations. Additional deputies will also be dedicated to DUI enforcement starting St. Patrick’s Day weekend and will continue throughout the week. FCSO reminds residents to drive sober or get pulled over!

Remember to follow the rules of the roadway and don’t drive drunk, or else the only bars you’ll be seeing for spring break will be at the Green Roof Inn. Be aware of your surroundings, lock your car doors, and don’t make yourself an easy target for criminals. To our spring breakers, we want you to have a fun but safe time and follow the laws. If you don’t, your spring break will be at the Green Roof Inn.”
Finally, those still looking for safe family fun during Spring Break can look no further than the Flagler Sheriff’s Police Athletic League (PAL) Mobile Day Camp on March 18th from 10am to 2pm. The event is being held at the G.W. Carver Fields at 201 E. Drain Street in Bunnell, Florida. PAL will have games, arts and crafts, food, and snow cones provided by Kona Ice! Children ages two through 15 and their parents are encouraged to attend.
