BUNNELL, FL – On September 19 while conducting proactive traffic enforcement on I-95, Deputy Punsky conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for illegal tint. Upon making contact with the driver, the driver provided Deputy Punsky with a driver’s license which depicted a photograph of someone who appeared different from the driver.

Deputies later located a Florida Identification Card which belonged to the driver, Mareena Aviles of Palatka. Aviles was found to have an active warrant for Robbery with a Firearm and Grand Theft of a Firearm from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office. Aviles is also a convicted Habitual Traffic Offender.

Aviles was arrested for her out-of-county warrant and Habitual Traffic Offender. She was transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility on $205,000 bond.

“She thought she could conceal her identity by changing her appearance and using someone else’s driver’s license, but her actions to conceal her real identity were a dead giveaway,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “If you are wanted, don’t come to Flagler County. We will give you a place to stay. Another fugitive is in the Green Roof Inn because of our deputy’s hard work.”
