BUNNELL, FL (July 29, 2026) – The City of Bunnell was honored today to welcome Congressman Randy Fine and Deputy District Director Bryant Ortiz for a visit to discuss the City’s critical infrastructure needs, future funding opportunities, and the continued growth taking place throughout the community.
During the visit, Congressman Randy Fine presented the City with a ceremonial check representing $5.16 million in additional federal funding secured through congressional appropriations for the City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant Rehabilitation and Expansion Project.
The project will expand its treatment capacity from 0.600 million gallons per day (MGD) to 1.200 MGD. This investment will modernize one of the City’s most essential public utilities by bringing the 1972-era facility to advanced wastewater treatment standards. The improvements will create a more reliable and resilient system capable of meeting both current and future wastewater demands while significantly improving the quality of treated water discharged into the environment.
“This project represents a tremendous investment in Bunnell’s future,” said Vice Mayor John Rogers. “Modernizing our wastewater treatment plant will strengthen our infrastructure, improve environmental stewardship, and ensure our utility system is prepared to serve residents and businesses for decades to come.”
City officials also discussed several additional priority infrastructure projects that may be eligible for future federal funding, including water, wastewater, resiliency initiatives and the restoration of Historic Coquina Hall which are projects that all enhance public health, strengthen community resilience, and support continued economic development.
