FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. — Congratulations are in order for Flagler County Public Affairs Specialist Julie Murphy, whose talent behind the camera has earned national recognition.
Murphy recently received an “Excellence” Award from the National Association of County Information Officers (NACIO) in the photography category, recognizing her outstanding coverage of the March 2025 Warbirds Over Flagler event held at the Flagler Executive Airport.
The award was presented during NACIO’s annual conference on July 20, with Flagler County officials participating virtually. NACIO is an active affiliate of the National Association of Counties (NACo) and honors the nation’s top county communications professionals through its annual Awards of Excellence program.
Interim County Administrator Adam Mengel praised Murphy’s achievement and the impact of her work.
“Congratulations on the well-deserved recognition,” Mengel said. “Your work elevates the voice of Flagler County, and it’s great to see it celebrated.”
Murphy’s award-winning photography captured the excitement and history of the popular Warbirds Over Flagler air show and was featured in the county’s Coast to Country publication. Her images showcased both the aircraft and the community spirit that has made the annual event a favorite among residents and aviation enthusiasts alike.
The national recognition highlights the importance of visual storytelling in public communications and reflects the high standard of work being produced by Flagler County’s Public Affairs Office.
In announcing the awards, NACIO applauded the creativity and dedication of county communicators across the country.
