October 27, 2026 – Flagler County Fire Rescue has successfully completed its 2026 Florida Department of Health Emergency Medical Services (EMS) inspection. The state’s review confirmed that the agency continues to meet or exceed all requirements for safety, readiness, training, medical oversight, and equipment standards.
“As expected, all items and records were in good order,” wrote Samuel Thurmond, regional representative for the Florida Department of Health. “The crew of Engine 50 was courteous and answered all my questions.”
State EMS inspections are carried out to ensure that emergency medical agencies operate safely, consistently, and in full compliance with Florida laws and professional standards. These reviews look at everything from personnel training and certifications to the condition of vehicles, the handling of medications, and the effectiveness of medical oversight programs.
By confirming that equipment is properly maintained, records are accurate, medications are stored securely, and protocols are followed, the state helps guarantee that communities receive reliable, high quality emergency care. The inspections also provide agencies with feedback and opportunities for improvement, if necessary, reinforcing both patient safety and public trust.
During the site visit, inspectors reviewed agency records, personnel certifications, medical equipment, vehicle readiness, and procedures for handling medications and emergency supplies. All areas were found to be in full compliance. The inspection team noted that storage areas were organized and secure, equipment was properly maintained, and crews demonstrated strong knowledge of protocols and operational standards.
“We are proud of this outcome and of the dedicated professionals who make Flagler County Fire Rescue a trusted provider of emergency medical care. We remain committed to maintaining the highest standards of emergency care,” said Fire Rescue Chief Michael Tucker. “This inspection reaffirms our commitment to delivering dependable, high-quality service to the community every day.”
