St. Johns County Silverleaf Sportsplex and Shearwater Community Park Under Construction

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla., April 14, 2026 – St. Johns County is currently constructing two new community park facilities designed to provide recreation, athletic space, and gathering areas for residents. The Silverleaf Sportsplex and Shearwater Community Park are both under construction and expected to open in early 2027. The Office of Public Affairs produced a video to highlight the projects.

“The parks are designed to provide high quality spaces where residents can stay active, gather for community events, and enjoy outdoor recreation,” said Brad Guagliardo, St. Johns County Public Works Project Manager. “Both facilities include a wide range of amenities that will support youth sports, casual recreation, and community programming for many years to come.”

“These are exciting times for St. Johns County,” said Ryan Kane, Director of St. Johns County Parks and Recreation. “With the addition of these two parks, the community will have additional opportunities to go outside and recreate. With eight new fields, a track, basketball, pickleball, skateboarding, playgrounds and a library hub, these sites will be a great place to get out and be active.”

Silverleaf Sportsplex

Located at Timberwolf Trail and County Road 16A, the Silverleaf Sportsplex is a regional athletic facility designed to support a variety of sports, events, and community programming.

The complex will include four multipurpose synthetic turf fields, three natural grass fields, and a synthetic turf stadium field with a track. All fields will be lit to allow for evening play and expanded programming opportunities.

Additional amenities include a playground, restrooms, a concession stand, sidewalks, and parking areas to support visitors and organized events.

The project represents an investment of approximately $36 million and will be constructed on a 40-acre site within the Silverleaf community.

Shearwater Community Park

Located on Timberwolf Trail north of the Silverleaf Sportsplex, Shearwater Community Park will provide a mix of indoor and outdoor recreational amenities.

The park will feature a community center with a library hub and multipurpose rooms designed to host programs, meetings, and community activities.

Outdoor amenities include an airnasium, a covered open-air structure that provides shade and ventilation over a basketball court, as well as an additional uncovered basketball court, eight pickleball courts, a splash pad, playground, skatepark, and open green space for casual recreation.

Parking areas and pedestrian access improvements are also included to support daily park use and community events.

The project represents an investment of approximately $12.3 million.
