BUNNELL, FL – Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) deputies made 9 arrests last weekend between 6 a.m. on Friday, December 1, 2023, and 6 a.m. on Monday, December 4, 2023, and handled 875 calls for service and made 248 traffic stops.

“The last month of the year is finally here and FCSO deputies have been busy!” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “Holiday shopping just started, and we already have tempers flaring over a parking spot!”

Female Arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon Following Parking Lot Altercation

On Friday, a caller contacted FCSO Communications to report an altercation in the Walmart parking lot. The caller reported that a female had pointed a firearm at her following an altercation over parking.

The caller stated that a black female in a white sedan was attempting to park, however, due to traffic in the parking lot, both vehicles were in close proximity to each other. The caller stated she had honked to alert the other driver of their close proximity and then was able to maneuver her vehicle further away.

Once the female in the white sedan had parked, the caller alleged that she pointed a small black firearm at her from within the vehicle. The driver of the white sedan then exited the parking space and left the parking lot. Through investigative means, the white sedan was located in the parking lot of a nearby restaurant. Deputies conducted a traffic stop as the vehicle reentered the Walmart parking lot.

Contact was made with the driver of the white sedan, Monica Hicks, and the firearm was located inside a purse in the vehicle. Hicks was placed under arrest for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility and was later released after posting $5,000 bond.

“A parking issue is not worth ending up with a trip to the Green Roof Inn,” said Sheriff Staly. “Brandishing a weapon to threaten another driver will get you arrested every time. If you can’t handle the parking or your temper, then don’t go shopping, especially as we near the holidays!”
