Daytona Beach, FL – The Junior League of Daytona Beach (JLDB) celebrated the Grand Reopening of its office building in downtown Daytona Beach with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Daytona Regional Chamber of Commerce on Monday, May 22, 2023. The ceremony was followed by the League’s annual meeting in which the new Board of Directors was inducted, and upcoming community initiatives were announced.

The League’s building suffered extensive damage during Hurricanes Ian and Nicole last year and needed significant repairs. The building’s bottom floor underwent a full remodel, creating a dedicated office, conference room and meeting spaces; windows were repaired where necessary; the roof was replaced; new flooring was installed; new air conditioning units were put in; and the building was repainted inside and out. Also, as part of the remodel, the JLDB created a large area for its diaper bank, the only diaper bank in Volusia and Flagler Counties. To date, the JLDB Diaper Bank has distributed more than 600,000 diapers to families in need.

“We are beyond excited to reopen our building … after what has been a true labor of love, we’ve created a space where we can come together to fulfill our mission of bettering this community we love,” said Kelly Marple, Junior League of Daytona Beach President. “We are honored to have the Daytona Regional Chamber of Commerce here to celebrate with us and are looking forward to continuing our partnership and engaging our community.”

Following the ribbon cutting, the JLDB held its annual meeting where it introduced the League’s new mission, “The Junior League of Daytona Beach is an organization of women whose mission is to advance women’s leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training.” The League announced that in addition to its annual events and initiatives, such as the Diaper Bank, Done in a Day projects, Touch-a-Truck and the Sweetheart Ball, members will be working on creating additional projects to help the community.

The League also inducted its 2023-2024 Board of Directors. The new Board includes Amie Story, President; Maria Indelicato, President-Elect; Grace Kellar, Secretary; Kathleen Dulko, Finance Director; April Wilson, Finance-Elect; Leslie VanWinkle, Community Director; Roni PeGee, Community-Elect; Sarah Murtaugh, Membership Director; Victoria Peña, Membership-Elect; and Amanda Smith, Communications Director.
