Palm Coast – Repairs for the Large Dog Park at Palm Coast Holland Park will begin Monday, April 17th. The back portion of the park will be partially closed, but residents can still access the front section of the park through the main gate. The back gate will only be closed to large dogs, and a secure fence will block off the dirt staging and maintenance area.

On Monday, April 24th, the large dog park will be entirely closed to the public. During this time, City staff will complete repairs to the existing area, regrade the hill to improve drainage and re-sod the park while planting new grass.

To ensure the new grass has time to grow, dogs and people will not be allowed in the park during the closure period. While this may be inconvenient, it will be worth the wait! Additionally, the small dog park also needs maintenance, and City staff is already planning and budgeting for those repairs in the next fiscal year.

“We are continually looking for ways to improve the quality of our parks for all Palm Coast residents, even our four-legged ones,” Director of Parks and Recreation James Hirst said. “We understand the importance of the dog park to the community and apologize for any inconvenience caused by the closure. We appreciate everyone’s patience while we work to make these enhancements.”

The small dog park designated for dogs under 30 pounds will remain open throughout the project. As an alternative, while the large dog park is closed, residents are encouraged to try the dog park at Wadsworth Park in Flagler Beach, which has small and large dog-designated areas.

The Lehigh trailhead construction project will also include a dog park with separate large and small dog areas. In the future, this will alleviate any maintenance closures as timing of maintenance at the two parks will be separate so that one remains open at all times.
