PALM COAST, Fla. — With the primary election quickly approaching, voters will have an opportunity to hear directly from candidates seeking seats on the Palm Coast City Council during a public candidate forum hosted by the NAACP Flagler County Branch on Thursday, July 16.

The forum will begin at the African American Cultural Society, located at 4422 U.S. 1, Palm Coast, and is designed to give residents an opportunity to learn more about the candidates, their priorities, and their vision for the city’s future before casting their ballots.

All qualified candidates have confirmed their participation.

Candidates for District 2 include:

  • Antonio “Tony” Amaral

  • Jeani Duarte

  • Jimmy Hengy

Candidates for District 4 include:

  • Dylana “Dee” Galery

  • John Kvederis

  • Ramon Marrero

  • Darlene Shelley

Each candidate will deliver a two-minute opening statement before responding to questions throughout the evening. Candidates will receive two guiding questions in advance of the forum to allow them time to prepare thoughtful responses.

Members of the public are also encouraged to participate by submitting questions before the forum begins. To ensure a fair, politically neutral environment and efficient time management, all questions will be presented by the moderator rather than taken directly from the audience. Each candidate will conclude the evening with a one-minute closing statement.

The forum will be moderated by Danielle Anderson.

Following the formal question-and-answer session, attendees are invited to enjoy coffee while visiting individually with the candidates during an informal meet-and-greet.

For those unable to attend in person, the forum will be livestreamed on Facebook courtesy of Flagler News Weekly, allowing voters throughout the community to watch the discussion live.

NAACP Flagler County Branch President Dr. Phyllis Pearson and Nichol Sparrow, Political Action Committee Chair, encourage all residents to attend, become informed about the candidates, and participate in the democratic process as Palm Coast prepares for the upcoming primary election.
