A Classic Theatre has been a nomadic theatre since its founding 14 years ago. In partnership with the St. Johns Cultural Council and the City of St. Augustine, ACT can now call The Waterworks its new home.
Built by Henry Flagler in 1898, The Waterworks was once the pumping station for the city’s first water utility. In its 100+ years of history, it’s been a gallery and workspace for the St. Augustine Art Association, home to The Garden Club,and for many years, The St. Augustine Little Theatre.
From May 6-15, ACT will perform The Immigrant, based on the true story of playwright Mark Harelik’s grandfather.Follow 19-year-old Russian emigre Haskell Harelik as he navigates assimilation in 1909 rural Texas.
