FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – For children in foster care, the first day of school can bring more than the usual butterflies.
Some enter a new classroom while also adjusting to a new home and family. Others begin another school year supported by the foster or relative caregivers who continue to provide stability, encouragement and love.
This year, the Seawolf Privateers helped 87 local children walk through their classroom doors prepared and confident. Through the generosity of its supporters, the organization provided the backpacks, notebooks, pencils and other necessities each child needed to start the school year ready to learn.
In total, the Seawolf Privateers invested $6,763.27 directly into helping the children prepare for the new academic year.
The supplies represent far more than items checked off a back-to-school list. Having everything they need allows children to enter the classroom with confidence, focused on learning rather than worrying about what they may be missing or what could set them apart from their classmates.
Every donation, fundraiser, volunteer hour and show of support throughout the year helps make efforts like this possible. Because of that generosity, 87 children began the school year knowing they had an entire krewe standing behind them and cheering for their success.
