DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (July 28, 2026) – Bethune-Cookman University is preparing to launch a new dual enrollment nursing program that will allow eligible high school students to begin earning college credits before they graduate.
Students from Volusia, Flagler, Putnam and St. Johns counties will be considered for the inaugural Fall 2027 cohort, which will accept up to 10 high school juniors who will complete the first 24 credit hours of Bethune-Cookman’s nursing curriculum online through B-CU Global. As a result, students will be prepared to begin clinical coursework once they get to the Daytona Beach campus after high school graduation and be on track to earn their Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in three years instead of four.
B-CU’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences will begin hosting monthly workshops and campus visits this fall to introduce high school sophomores who might be interested in pursuing the opportunity to be dually enrolled at Cookman.
Beyond the cost of textbooks, there is no tuition expense for participating dually enrolled students.
The initiative is designed to strengthen Florida’s workforce by creating an early pathway into one of the state’s most in-demand professions.
