BUNNELL, FL – On Wednesday, March 20, Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies recovered a stolen vehicle from Jacksonville, Florida and arrested three for Grand Theft, among other charges.

At approximately 3:10 p.m., the Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) was alerted that a stolen gray Hyundai Elantra was on Palm Coast Parkway. Deputies were dispatched to the area and Flagler County Fire Rescue’s FireFlight was launched to assist in the search. The stolen vehicle was quickly located in the parking lot of the Home Depot with two occupants inside.

Deputies approached the vehicle, tactically parking to prevent an escape, and contacted the occupants. After confirming with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office that the vehicle was stolen, the pair were placed under arrest. Upon inspecting the vehicle, deputies observed the steering column had been broken and that the vehicle was running without a key in the ignition.

The driver, a black male later identified as Malachi Quinn, age 16 from Jacksonville, Florida, was arrested for Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle. He was transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility for processing. The Florida Department of Juvenile Justice ordered that he be released to his parents.

The passenger, a white female, provided multiple names to deputies. Deputies then attempted to use RapidID technology, but the female was uncooperative. While speaking to deputies, she changed her story multiple times regarding how many people were in the car and whether she knew the vehicle was stolen. Eventually, she admitted that a third person was also involved, but had gotten out of the vehicle to steal items from Home Depot before deputies arrived.

Witnesses in the area advised deputies that a white male was seen inside a nearby shed and appeared to be hiding from law enforcement. Deputies quickly located a white male, later identified as Brendan Maddox, age 28 from Orange Park, Florida, along with several baggies of narcotics behind a piece of wood inside the shed. Brendan was also in possession of the female’s Florida ID card, which identified her as Savanna Woodruff, age 18, also from Jacksonville, Florida.

Woodruff was arrested for Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle, False Name or Identification Given to Law Enforcement, and Resisting an Officer Without Violence. She was also found to be a fugitive from Putnam County for Failure to Appear, for an Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Domestic Violence Battery. Woodruff was transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, where she is being held without bond.

Maddox was arrested for Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Resisting an Officer Without Violence, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Cathinones, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was also found to be a fugitive from Duval County for Grand Theft. Maddox was transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, where he is being held on a $27,003 bond.

“This trio thought that they could come to Flagler County in their stolen vehicle and steal from Home Depot,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “They learned the hard way that was a bad decision. I’m not sure what kind of tools they wanted to steal, but they quickly learned we have plenty of powerful tools in our toolbox to catch criminals. I commend our deputies and our Real Time Crime Center, and I thank our partners at Flagler County Fire Rescue for helping us find this stolen vehicle and put these car thieves in the Green Roof Inn.”
