Shared by Matanzas High School via social media on Thursday, December 28, 2023.

MHS families, we’re sharing a portion of the message shared by Mrs. (Kristin) Bozeman earlier today via email. This has been done at the request of the family.

“It is with a heavy heart that I share with you the news of the passing of one of our students this past weekend in a car accident.

Thomas (TJ) Schultz was an 11th grade student at MHS. TJ attended Old Kings Elementary and Indian Trails Middle School before coming to MHS. He was an AB honor roll student and a member of our Law & Justice Program.
We know that many of our students and their families are deeply affected by this loss, TJ’s family wanted us to share the information about his visitation and funeral this weekend for anyone who would like to say goodbye. Details can be found here: https://www.clymerfuneralhome.com/obi…/thomas-tj-j-schultz
I have attached information to this email with local mental health resources for our students who want this support. Additionally, our families can access the Halifax Grief Center by calling 386-425-3100. We will have additional counselors on campus to support students when we return to school in January. If your child needs any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact their school counselor or administration for help.
Our thoughts and prayers are with TJ and his family during this difficult time. We also offer condolences to all the MHS students and staff members, especially his classmates, teachers, and support staff.”
