BUNNELL, FL – Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) deputies made 10 arrests last weekend between 6 a.m. on Friday, December 15, 2023, and 6 a.m. on Monday, December 18, 2023, and handled 737 calls for service and made 127 traffic stops.
“Although the rain kept many people inside during a quieter than normal weekend, more fugitives found themselves in the Green Roof Inn this weekend thanks to the hard work of FCSO deputies,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “If you come into Flagler County as a fugitive, we will find you and catch you.”
Juvenile Arrested for Sending Written Threats to Kill
A 13-year-old Indian Trails Middle School student was arrested on Friday after sending threats to kill another juvenile via Snapchat.
The 13-year-old student sent the threatening messages following an altercation that occurred after school at the Indian Trails Sports Complex. A parent contacted FCSO after overhearing threats made in a Snapchat video and then seeing subsequent Snapchat messages containing threats.
The 13-year-old student was placed under arrest for Written Threats to Kill and processed at the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility before being turned over to the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice.
“Thank you to the observant parent who saw and heard the threats and contacted FCSO,” said Sheriff Staly. “Parents, once again I remind you to talk to your kids and be the Sheriff of your home. Teach them the proper way to handle disagreements. We will not tolerate any threats to kill, regardless of the reason or if children think it is just a joke after they are caught.”
Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Fugitive with Narcotics
Early Saturday morning, a deputy conducted a traffic stop near Old Kings Road and Palm Coast Parkway. Upon contacting the driver, 44-year-old Bryan Touhey, it was determined he had an active Flagler County warrant for Violation of Pretrial Release (Original Charge – Domestic Battery).
During an inventory of the vehicle, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were located inside Touhey’s vehicle resulting in additional charges.
Touhey was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and the local warrant. Touhey is being held at the SPHIDF on $3,500 bond.
Rapid ID Identifies Fugitive from Justice
On Sunday morning, deputies apprehended a fugitive after identifying him through Rapid ID technology. Deputies made contact with the man at the I-95/SR-100 interchange.
The male originally provided several false names but was later identified as Clarence Sexton through FCSO’s Rapid ID technology. After confirming his identity, it was found that Sexton was a fugitive from Texas where he was wanted for Felony Violation of Probation.
Sexton was placed under arrest for being a fugitive from justice and was transported to the SPHIDF where he is currently being held with no bond.
Rapid ID technology is a mobile device that scans a person’s fingerprint, routes it through the state and national Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) and within seconds provides the person’s identity and any criminal history directly to the deputy in the field.
“Another fugitive thought he could lie his way to freedom but didn’t know we level the playing field with technology,” added Sheriff Staly. “If you give us a false name, we will use our technology to find out who you are and in 99% of the cases that results in going to the Green Roof Inn.”
