Robin Maglio, “Bringing You Home” Real Estate Sales Executive for Florida Homes Realty & Mortgage is hosting the 3rd Annual Gingerbread House Contest in Flagler County, and how sweet it is.
“My family and I are involved in the Palm Coast Little League. Although our son is grown, my husband still coaches baseball for kids 13 to 16 years old,” said Magilo. “Every year for the past three years I have sponsored a Gingerbread House Decorating Contest for one or more of the teams that we are involved with,” she said.
Here’s how it works:
“I purchase pre-built gingerbread houses and distribute them to the children that would like to participate in the contest to win a prize. Typically, they have two weeks to decorate the houses and can use anything they want to decorate them! They just have to text me a picture of the completed house by the deadline,” she said.
This year the deadline was December 2nd.
“On December 3rd I posted the entries in separate posts on my business Facebook page “It’s All About Flagler” and voting began! The voting window is open for a week, so this year it closes on December 10th. The contestants are encouraged to have their family and friends go to my page and “vote” by liking or commenting on their particular post. I always ask my followers to participate as well. The most “votes” (likes or comments) wins.:
This year’s winners will be announced on Maglio’s page on December 11th.
“I give them a $100 Visa gift card for the grand prize, a $50 Visa gift card for 2nd place and a $25 Visa gift card for 3rd place. It is so fun to see what they come up with,” she said.
Each year the number of contestants has grown according to Maglio.
“It is a great way to connect with the community and I look forward to it every year! I hope in the years to come I will be able to have many more kids involved, not just from the Little League but possibly all throughout Flagler County.”
