DAYTONA BEACH, Fla (8/29/23) Based on information from the National Weather Service and state and local emergency management officials, Hurricane Idalia is expected to pass north of Volusia and Flagler counties. We are forecast to receive tropical storm winds and possible flooding beginning Wednesday morning.

Daytona State College is cancelling all classes and activities on all campuses for Wednesday, Aug. 30.

• All academic assignments, including all classes with online components, are suspended for Wednesday.

• The Welcome Back events at the DeLand and New Smyrna Beach/Edgewater Campuses planned for this week are cancelled and will be rescheduled at a later date.

• The Drop/Add classes deadline has been extended to Thursday.

• The Residence Hall on the Daytona Beach Campus will remain open for student residents, however students who can safely travel home are encouraged to do so. Power outages may occur affecting electricity, Wi-Fi and air conditioning. College leaders and Residence Hall staff will update student residents with more information.

• Essential personnel should check with their supervisors and other limited personnel may also be contacted by their supervisors for online support and/or other support.

The College plans to reopen Thursday morning for normal operations and will provide an update Wednesday.
