BUNNELL, FL – A 37-year-old Palm Coast man wanted for a probation violation surrenders to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) after he fled from a deputy and into a home, causing a brief standoff.
Joshua Ray Norman is held without bond at the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility following his arrest just before 7 o’clock last night (September 7, 2022) at 4252 Acorn Avenue in Bunnell.
An FCSO deputy on patrol recognized Norman and knew that he was wanted. When the deputy approached Norman in his front yard, Norman fled inside the home. Other deputies responded to assist and the home was surrounded.
Eventually, Norman agreed to exit the home and surrendered. Norman’s arrest warrant was signed on September 6, 2022 by a Flagler County judge for violation of probation for dealing in stolen property and had a nationwide extradition order. The probation violation occurred after he failed to report to his probation officer when required and failing a drug test.
“This arrest is a great example of proactive patrol and our district policing concept,” said Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly. “District policing allows deputies to get to know the people that live in the district, including the criminals. Fortunately, he gave himself up peacefully and we was taken to the Green Roof Inn.”
This is the seventh time Norman has been booked at the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility. He’s had six bookings between 2010 and 2013 on a variety of charges, including domestic battery, resisting an officer, grand theft of a motor vehicle, fleeing & eluding and driving with a suspended license.
Prior to this incident, Norman was arrested by FCSO in July 2013 for burglary, dealing in stolen property, grand theft, criminal mischief, false verification of ownership and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was convicted of those crimes in July 2014 and sentenced to eight years in a Florida prison. Norman has been on probation since his release by the Florida Department Of Corrections in June 2020.
