A 13-month investigation by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) Major Case Unit (MCU) culminates in the arrest of a 24-year-old Palm Coast man for molesting a teenage girl as she slept in his apartment.

Detectives took Joshua Paul Brown – a resident of 135 Hummingbird Place – into custody at his home on Friday (August 12, 2022) for that June 2021 incident at the Integra Woods Apartments in Palm Coast. He has since left the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detection Center after posting a $100,000 bond.

The victim – who was 13 years old the time – told detectives that she was sleeping on the couch in the living room when she woke up to find one of her hands on Brown’s exposed genitalia. She also informed investigators that Brown was completely naked when she woke up and that he asked her not to tell anybody what happened.

MCU detectives used various investigative techniques and interview skills over the course of the investigation to establish sufficient evidence and probable cause to obtain an arrest warrant.

“I commend our Major Case Unit for pursuing this case from the time we got the call until this pervert was in handcuffs,” said Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly. “These are hard cases to build but we have an amazing Major Case Unit that uses every investigative tool possible to build strong cases. This pervert is now at the Green Roof Inn where he won’t be able to prey on children.”

Brown is facing two felony counts of lewd and lascivious molestation to a minor and lewd and lascivious exhibition to a minor. He has no prior arrest record in Flagler County.
