I want to start by saying “congratulations.” Congratulations for putting in your best effort as we close out the 2021-22 school year. Our administrators, faculty, staff, students, and parents have worked so hard to create opportunities for growth.

This time of the year is when we start getting the results of our state testing. We just received our 3rd-grade reading scores and Flagler Schools students once again surpassed the state average (58% at level 3 or higher versus 53%). It’s important to note that these 3rd-graders were in 1st grade when we faced the pandemic’s start. The K-3 years are critical in developing these literacy skills which provide a foundation for success in later grades. For the 3rd-grade students who may need additional reading support, we have our phenomenal summer acceleration program.

Our high school graduation ceremonies are on Saturday, and with that our school year will come to an end. I hope everyone has a relaxing and safe summer break. We will be preparing for next year with summer training opportunities for Administrators and teachers with an emphasis on climate and culture on our campuses and across the Flagler Schools district. These last few years have been some of the most challenging for everyone. We know establishing and maintaining the right climate and culture goes a long way in creating the best and safest environment to work and learn.

For our soon-to-be graduates, good luck in college, the workforce, or the military. Your steadfast persistence and grit have prepared you for your next steps after graduation. Have a great summer and see you August 10th.
