Hey folks, Captain Adam Morley here, owner of Genung’s Fish Camp with your latest fishing report. The mullet run is in full swing, and that means the redfish, tarpon, and snook are still active and chasing bait along the coast. If you’re after some heart-pounding action, now’s the time to get out there. On top of that, I’m getting reports of spotted sea trout and black drum starting to show up too – sure signs that fall fishing is creeping in, if not already here.
Now, let’s talk about the weather. We’ve had a massive amount of rain lately, and the Matanzas River is looking pretty dirty. It’s going to take a while for it to flush out and clear up, but don’t let that stop you from getting out on the water. We just passed the full moon this Tuesday, and those flood tides that come with this time of year make for some excellent sight fishing in the flooded Spartina grass. It’s a great opportunity to target redfish cruising the flats, looking for a meal.
As for bait, live finger mullet and live shrimp are working wonders, and if you’re a fan of throwing artificials, topwater lures are getting a lot of attention too.
So, grab your gear, enjoy the fall weather, and get in on the action while the fish are biting! Tight lines, everyone!
