FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – Every year the submissions have grown for the annual Kids Ocean Day Florida poster contest, so much so that the Friends of A1A Scenic & Historic Coastal Byway, Inc. created two categories, offering a second student the opportunity for his or her work to be recognized.
Working with Flagler-Palm Coast High School advanced digital design instructor Ed Beckett, the two have collaborated on poster designs for almost a decade, providing students an opportunity to practice developing professional quality materials. Winning selections, voted on by the organization’s board of directors and the public are selected as either the official “Poster Contest Selection” or the “People’s Choice”.
“Every year Mr. Beckett has been gracious enough to allow his talented students to participate in the contest,” said Friends of A1A President Bill McClure. “It’s been a pleasure to see the art created by these students.”
Beckett will retire after more than 30 years of instructing students at the end of the school year, and this year’s number of submissions for the contest is the largest to date.
“We’re grateful for the support Mr. Beckett and his students have provided over the years and the creativity displayed in each poster,” added Danielle Anderson, byway program administrator for the Friends of A1A.
Voting closes for the Kids Ocean Day Florida poster contest on Friday, April 14, 2023 at noon. To vote, please click here.
