There are several proven strategies involving leadership, culture, team, mission, and alignment which if done successfully and consistently can produce very positive organizational outcomes.

But never overlook this one: find the 4-5 managers, supervisors, and line level employees who we know spend their entire day destroying teams and morale, making the culture sicker, undermining others, consuming too much of your time, depressing performance, and costing the company millions in both talent and revenue.

Here’s what you do next: you fire them.

You would be surprised how much better the body gets once the cancer is removed.  Removing a few agents of dysfunction, chaos, and incivility can generate opportunities for success which would have remained impossible had they stayed. It’s not the single cure for everything but if this never happens, nothing else really good ever will.
