St. Johns County, FL – Women Supporting Women, a paper and fabric collage exhibition by New York artist Hollie Heller, will debut with a reception at First Coast Cultural Center on October 8, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Peterbrooke Chocolatier will provide refreshments for this event, which is free and open to the public.

According to Heller, her collection of vibrant, colorful pieces reflects her experiences during yearly visits to Costa Rica. “A lot of my inspiration comes from Costa Rica – being close to the water and the horizon line.”

Heller owns the Costa Rican studio and retreat, A.R.T. Tamarindo, in a “bustling little surfing town,” and she says this vibe is captured in her “whimsical and multicultural” creations. “Every piece has its own story and a unique mix of fabrics, papers, and printing techniques,” explains Heller. “It is a collage on top of a collage with rich colors and subtle overlays.”

FCCC President and CEO, Donna Guzzo, says of the exhibition, “We are proud to bring this international female artist to First Coast Cultural Center to share her style, techniques, and inspiration to educate and engage the community.”

Heller has a Master of Fine Arts with a focus on Weaving and Textile Design. Also, this award-winning artist’s work has been featured in numerous exhibitions and public collections, and she has included many of these on her website: www.hollieheller.com.

Visitors to Heller’s exhibition on October 8 will also be able to view “Nature’s Palette,” a collection of art pieces in adjacent galleries from The Discovery School students and the BRAject – the proceeds of which directly support Pink Ribbon Jax.

Heller’s exhibit will be on display October 8 through November 19, enabling visitors to purchase gifts during FCCC’s Holiday Shoppes (November 16-17 from 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 6000B Sawgrass Village Circle, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, 32082).
