BUNNELL, FL – Over the long Labor Day Weekend, between 6 a.m. on Friday, September 1st, and 6 a.m. on Tuesday, September 5th, local law enforcement agencies arrested a total of 50 people, including 9 for DUI and 2 for BUI. The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) handled 992 calls for service and made 363 traffic stops.
“These long holiday weekends are meant to be a celebration, but there are always those who can’t control themselves and end up behind bars,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “If you commit a crime in Flagler County, you will get a bunk at the Green Roof Inn. Tragically, two young children died on Sunday, and both deaths could have been avoided. We send our prayers and condolences to the families.”
Woman Arrested With Several Narcotics in Car
On Friday night, Deputy Harrison conducted a traffic stop on a gray sedan traveling on Belle Terre Pkwy. Upon speaking with the 50-year-old driver, Tanvini Ware, Deputy Harrison smelled burnt marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and discovered that Ware’s license had been suspended.
While conducting a search of the vehicle, Deputy Harrison located a cut straw with a white powder inside, a baggie containing a white powdery substance that field tested positive for Fentanyl, a prescription bottle with a rocky white substance that tested positive for Cocaine, and a green leafy substance.
Ware was then arrested and transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility (SPHIDF), where Detention Deputies found 8 round pills on Ware’s person that tested positive for Oxycodone.
Ware was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Fentanyl, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Oxycodone, Possession of Marijuana (20 Grams or Less), and Introduction of Contraband into a Secured Facility. She was released after posting an $11,000 bond.
Man Arrested for Public Nudity
On Saturday morning, Deputy Dorsey responded to the Econolodge on Kingswood Drive to investigate a suspicious person. Upon arriving, Deputy Dorsey made contact with John Pierre, 58, who was walking around naked by the hotel’s entrance.
Pierre could not explain to deputies why he was naked. He was arrested for Breach of Peace – Disorderly Conduct, Exposure of Sexual Organs, and Violation of Parole. He was transported to SPHIDF and is being held on a $2,500 bond.
19-Month-Old Drowns in Pool
On Sunday afternoon, FCSO deputies rushed to a home on Seattle Trail following reports of a child drowning. According to witnesses on the scene, the child had been found unresponsive at the bottom of the pool. It was unclear how long the 19-month-old had been underwater.
A man at the scene and first responders performed life-saving measures on the child, but the child was pronounced deceased at the hospital despite their efforts.
“Parents can be loving and careful, but tragic accidents can still happen,” added Sheriff Staly. “Our condolences and prayers go to this family for their loss. Let us stay extra vigilant around pools when children are around, and remember to use pool door alarms or fence enclosures. Most child drownings are preventable.”
18-Month-Old Child Dies in Shooting
Late Sunday night, deputies responded to a reported shooting at the R-Section of Palm Coast. When deputies arrived, they discovered an 18-month-old child had been shot in the head. Major Case Detectives are still investigating this case, but a person of interest has been identified and arrested on an unrelated charge.
