Palm Coast – Last night, the Co-Founders of Cedar Bridge Foundation hosted an award ceremony to honor Palm Coast Community Center Supervisor Carrie Todd for her remarkable contributions to the special needs community, specifically her work with the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) social group. The ceremony highlighted the challenges and rewards of supporting individuals with exceptional needs.
Maria Dowling, a co-founder of Cedar Bridge, highlighted Todd’s exceptional qualities during the ceremony: “Supporting individuals with exceptional needs is a journey filled with unique challenges and profound rewards. Carrie Todd exemplifies compassion, resilience, and vision. Her commitment to empowering those with disabilities and fostering a sense of community and inclusion has been inspirational.”
Carrie Todd spearheaded the ASD social group, a vital Palm Coast Parks and Recreation program. Inspired by her own experiences as a parent of a son on the autism spectrum, Todd understood the social challenges faced by young adults who have recently graduated high school. Recognizing the need for continued socialization, she established the group to provide a safe space for socialization, expression, activities, and encouragement for those on the spectrum and those who are differently abled.
“Carrie Todd’s dedication to empowering individuals who are differently abled and improving their lives has been truly inspirational,” said Parks and Recreation Director James Hirst. “Her hard work and dedication have increased awareness and created a strong sense of community, inclusion, and empowerment. We deeply appreciate all she has done and are tremendously proud to have her on our team.”
The Parks and Recreation Department is excited to announce that this group will continue into the upcoming fall session. Starting Tuesday, August 13, the group will meet every other Tuesday from 6-7:30 pm at the Palm Coast Community Center. This group is open to individuals aged 18 and older, and new participants are welcome to join anytime. For more information or to register for the program, visit www.parksandrec.fun.
