Palm Coast – The City of Palm Coast is partnering with the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) to raise awareness for the Vacation Watch program with a new Public Service Announcement (PSA) staring FCSO Commander Mike Lutz and Community Engagement Coordinator Shannon Sandberg.

In the PSA, Commander Lutz and Sandberg play a Palm Coast couple about to go on vacation. Commander Lutz tries to assure Sandberg that his home-made ‘security system’ is enough to keep their home safe, but Sandberg does not agree and suggests they use the FCSO Vacation Watch program. After a mishap with his homemade security system, Commander Lutz agrees and information is given to the viewer on how to sign up for the Vacation Watch program.

“The Vacation Watch program is a wonderful tool to have at our resident’s disposal not just during the holiday season but all year round,” Mayor David Alfin said. “Our Communications team did a wonderful job putting this PSA together and I hope that after seeing it, more residents will take advantage of this excellent and free program!”
“The Vacation Watch program is made possible due to the tremendous efforts of our C.O.P.s who really go above and beyond to give back to their community,” Sheriff Rick Stay said. “While the Vacation Watch program cannot guarantee the safety of your home or guarantee no damage while you are away, it is a preventative measure that would serve as a way of detecting damage or a security breach sooner rather than later.”
The Vacation Watch program is currently offered to all Flagler County residents free of charge. When a resident signs up for the Vacation Watch, a uniformed FCSO C.O.P. will visit their residence and preform security checks while they are away. Should a breach in the security of the home for damage be observed, the homeowner will be notified right away and a criminal investigation will begin if necessary.
