PALM COAST, Fla. — The Flagler Tiger Bay Club will welcome four-time Emmy Award–winning journalist and investigative leader Daralene Jones as the featured speaker for its upcoming luncheon event on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at the Hammock Dunes Club.
The event, titled “Truth, Accountability, and the Public Trust: The Role of Investigative Journalism in a Democratic Society,” will explore the vital role investigative journalism plays in promoting transparency, strengthening democratic institutions, and holding powerful systems accountable.
Jones anchors the 12:00 and 4:00 p.m. newscasts at WFTV-Channel 9, where she also produces investigative reports and documentaries that have influenced public policy discussions and amplified underrepresented voices throughout Florida. With nearly 25 years in journalism and more than 16 years serving Central Florida audiences, Jones has built a reputation for impactful reporting focused on government accountability, criminal justice reform, and education equity.
Her notable projects include the Emmy Award–winning Groveland Four: Journey to Exoneration and the acclaimed Ocoee Massacre documentary initiative, as well as Historic Jones High, which she executive produced. In February 2024, Jones published her first children’s book, Luke Learns, inspired by her commitment to representation and community engagement.
Jones is also active in numerous professional and civic organizations, including Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE), the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ), and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida, where she serves on the Downtown board.
The luncheon will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Member tickets are $45, and guest tickets are $50. Meal selections include Strawberry Balsamic Salad with grilled chicken, Teriyaki Glazed Shrimp, or a chef’s choice vegetarian meal.
