Tell readers a bit about who you are and how long you’ve been in Flagler County?

I am Lacy Martin! I am a Florida native, born and raised! I am happily married with two sweet babies, Everleigh & Everett!  I have been employed with the Flagler County Board of County Commissioners for over 5 years and I have lived in Flagler County for over 7 years! I absolutely love it here and am thrilled to raise my children in Flagler!

How did you become the host of The Flagler Voice?

I was a Financial Analyst for Flagler County and an opportunity came up for the Marketing Media Manager position under the Multimedia Communications Team in I.T and I knew this is where my heart was! When I got the promotion, I immediately hit the ground running and started interviewing folks for the show!  The Flagler Voice is a 30 minute radio show on WNZF sponsored by Tag Ventures Real Estate Services and I was absolutely elated to be the host!

What kind of topic or who can listeners expect to hear when they tune in?

The Flagler Voice is a radio show for Flagler County residents to get involved and get information about all kinds of topics!  The purpose of the show is to educate our listeners on all the beneficial programs and available services around the County.  My goal for The Flagler Voice is to have at least one person learn something from the show that they may not have known, or perhaps they can help someone else down the road!

Each week the topic varies.  No two weeks are the same!  I bounce around from internal departments from the County to outside establishments.  Anything that I feel could benefit the residents in one capacity or another!  In past episodes, a few that I have interviewed are the Flagler County Education Foundation’s Joe Rizzo, County Parks and Recreation managers Frank Barbuti and Craig Lenniger, Flagler Volunteer Services with Suzy Gamblain, The Flagler Executive Airport’s Roy Sieger, Flagler County Fire Rescue Training Chief Lenny Ensalaco, Flagler Humane Society’s Amy Carotenuto, Flagler County PAL Director Nicole Quintieri and Coordinator Kerri Henderson and Florida Forrest Service’s Julie Allen. You can listen to past episodes here!

What do you love most about being able to host the show? Did you ever see yourself doing this when you started working with Flagler County?

I absolutely love being able to educate and inform our listeners about the services offered in Flagler County!  I love meeting all the leaders in our County who make these programs possible!  I have been so fortunate to interview so many passionate individuals and get to know them and their why!  This job is so incredibly rewarding!  For example, a few weeks ago I interviewed Family Life Center’s Trish Giaccone, Chief Executive Officer.  She explained what signs to look for in domestic abuse situations.  Any of us could possibly have a friend, sister, cousin or neighbor who is suffering from abuse, who may need help and don’t know where to turn.  My hope is that a listener can take away valuable tools to better address these situations.  You just never know who can be dealing with demons and they don’t know where to turn.

When I started with Flagler County, I was an administrative assistant in the Financial Services Department then was promoted to a Financial Analyst!  But, I knew I wanted more out of my local government!  I loved being able to have a hand in the financial aspect of our local tax dollars but there was something missing!  I couldn’t get out there and spread the word loudly enough about all the important services we have to offer!  I never imagined that I would be able to host an informational radio show every weekend but here we are! And man oh man, the sky is the limit!!!

I hear there’s some big news today for you. What’s that mean for your role with Flagler County and The Flagler Voice?

Today is very exciting for me!  I was accepted to the University of Florida, College of Journalism and Communications for my Master of Arts in Mass Communication specializing in Public Relations!  This is not only going to benefit me in my career as the Marketing Media Manager but this is a huge benefit to the residents of Flagler County!  Working towards my Master’s degree will give me additional skills to enhance the services I am able to provide to the public with the Flagler Voice! I will be better equipped with additional tools and skills to provide the highest level of information to the public!
