On June 1st from 10AM – 4PM, the Flagler Humane Society is excited to welcome current and future pet parents to a special adoption event sponsored by Simparica Trio.

Being held at the Flagler Humane Society (1 Shelter Drive, Palm Coast, FL 32137), the event will spotlight pets that have been at the shelter for over 30 days. Highlights include:

  • Half-off the price of adoption for any pet that has been at the shelter for over 30 days
  • Ice cream treats & photo booths for pups and their people
  • Free heartworm testing for the first 100 dogs
  • Exclusive offer code for Simparica Trio (sarolaner, moxidectin, and pyrantel chewable tablets) that protects against heartworm disease, ticks & fleas, and roundworms & hookworms

Charlie, the shelter’s longest resident (since May 2021), will be at the event looking for his forever home!

Charlie (4 years old, 70 lbs.) is a young, vibrant spirit with a zest for life. His intelligence is striking, and his playful demeanor is infectious. His goofiness will surely bring a smile to your face, while his friendly nature makes him a joy to be around. He’s already house-trained, making him a perfect companion for a home without other pets or small children. Charlie’s waiting for a home where his playful spirit and loving heart can shine!

Ahead of this weekend’s event we caught up with Jenifer Sheehy, DVM, BCPA, Medical Lead, Canine Parasiticides, Zoetis Petcare for The Big Five.

  • When we think of animal illnesses, it’s usually rabies. What are some of the other illnesses pet owners should be aware of and which are the most high priority?

There are so many aspects of animal health that are outside of our control, that I like to focus on places where we can have an impact, like good preventative medicine. Keeping your pet up to date on vaccines and parasite control can prevent life-threatening illnesses like heartworm disease and tick-borne diseases.

  • As a pet owner, it can be challenging to pick which prevention is the safest for our beloved animals. What makes Simparica Trio a good choice?

Simparica Trio is a broad-spectrum prevention that protects against fleas and ticks, heartworm disease and intestinal worms all in one tasty, monthly dose. Simparica Trio has 6 safety studies that demonstrate it is safe and efficacious in puppies 2.8 lbs. and up and 8 weeks and older. It has now provided protection for more than 11 million dogs (and counting) over the past 4 years.

  • Why are regular checkups and maintenance an important part of pet ownership?

The old adage “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” could not be more true than for our furry patients. Since they are unable to tell us when they aren’t feeling well, it’s imperative that they see their family veterinarian routinely to catch changes in their health early, when intervention is most effective.

  • How can we all work together to better help the Flagler Humane Society?

Come out on June 1st and join in Flagler’s exciting adoption event! There will be ice cream, fun giveaways, and you could even go home with a new furry family member!

  • Will Zoetis be giving away free samples?

Yes, Zoetis has provided Simparica Trio samples to the Flagler Humane Society to help care for the many dogs in their care, giving 600 doses of heartworm, flea, tick and intestinal worm protection.

Zoetis has also provided heartworm test for the first 100 dogs at the June 1st Adoption Event to ensure your furry friends are healthy, happy and protected.

There will also be new pet owner education, free kong toys and offer codes exclusive to this June 1st Flagler Humane Society Adoption Event.
