BUNNELL, FL – On Wednesday, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) captured a fugitive from New York state who had been on the run for nearly a decade.
At around 2 p.m., Master Deputy Faircloth conducted a traffic stop on a Jeep that was traveling above the speed limit within the school zone on Belle Terre Pkwy near Indian Trails Middle School.
While conducting the traffic stop, MD Faircloth determined the passenger had an active warrant for his arrest from Nassau County, New York. Derrick Menosky, 37, was wanted for Criminal Mischief (Property Damage) since 2014. Menosky believed the warrant was non-extraditable, but to his surprise, it was fully extraditable, and New York authorities wanted him back.
MD Faircloth arrested Menosky as a Fugitive from Justice for his out-of-state warrant and transported him to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility (SPHIDF) without incident. He is being held on no bond and is awaiting extradition.
“This fugitive thought he could beat his New York charges by hiding in Flagler County,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “But he picked the wrong county and wrong Agency for that. FCSO deputies don’t miss a beat, and catching fugitives has become second nature to our deputies. I hope he enjoys the Green Roof Inn before getting shipped back to New York.”
