The Volusia/Flagler Family YMCA is pleased to announce that the organization has been awarded a $5 million grant for renovations and improvements to their existing branches in Volusia County, as well as seed money for construction planning for a new location in Flagler County. Rep. Tramont sponsored the project in the state house of representatives. Sen. Wright sponsored the project in the state senate, and Rep. Leek championed the project through the Appropriations Committee.

The grant marks a significant milestone in the organization’s commitment to enhance community services and facilities. Its successful approval underscores the widespread support and recognition of the YMCA’s invaluable contributions to the local community.

The funding will be allocated to several critical projects that will benefit individuals and families throughout the region. The approved projects include; continuing the comprehensive overhaul of the Ormond Beach Family YMCA facility to enhance its amenities and provide a more inclusive space for members of all ages, planning of the highly anticipated YMCA location in Flagler County, allowing the facility to serve as a hub for health and wellness in the area, the creation of a state-of-the-art soccer field at the Deltona Family YMCA to encourage community engagement through sports and physical activities, upgrading the air conditioning system at the DeLand Family YMCA, ensuring members enjoy a comfortable and inviting environment throughout the year, and the installation of sidewalks from camper cabins to the bath houses at YMCA Camp Winona in DeLeon Springs, providing safe and accessible pathways for campers to explore the beautiful outdoors.
