BUNNELL, Fla. – For more than 80 years, Harris Grocery has been more than a place to buy dinner. The family-owned store in Bunnell has become part of the fabric of the community, serving generations of families and building lasting relationships along the way.

Now, Harris Grocery has a chance to earn national recognition.

Harris Grocery has been selected as one of the top 10 finalists in FOX Business Network’s 2026 Small Business contest, a nationwide competition celebrating the small businesses that form the heart of America. The Bunnell store is now in the running for a $25,000 prize and a featured segment on FOX Nation.

The contest, held in honor of America’s upcoming 250th birthday, recognizes businesses that go beyond commerce to make a meaningful impact in their communities. Public voting is open now through Sunday, April 19.

Harris Grocery traces its roots back to 1945 in Volusia County before relocating to Flagler County in 1983. Today, the business is owned by Rusty Henderson and Robin Harris Henderson, representing the fifth generation of the family to carry on the tradition. Before them, the store was operated by Robin’s parents, Don and Beth Harris.

Over the decades, Harris Grocery has become known not only for its products, but for its commitment to the community. The store partners with the local high school through an internship program that teaches students valuable entry-level job skills and strong work ethics while helping them earn money and complete their education.

The grocery also supports local youth exhibitors and their livestock at the Flagler County Fair, and regularly allows area churches and community groups to host bake sales and yard sales in front of the store.

Store owners say the relationships formed over the years are what make Harris Grocery special.

“We have witnessed different seasons of life with our community and have grown such strong bonds with so many,” the family shared. “We have been in hospitals with families as they welcome new family members and we have been in churches with them as they send other family members home.”

That connection is reflected in the store’s longtime motto: “The first time you come in, you’re our guest. After that, you’re family!”

The family says the support of the community is the reason Harris Grocery has remained successful for more than eight decades.

Voting is now open and community members are encouraged to support the hometown business by casting a vote before the deadline. Following the public voting period, finalists will be reviewed by a panel of FOX Business personalities including Maria Bartiromo, Larry Kudlow, Charles Payne, Brian Brenberg and Dagen McDowell.

Winners are expected to be announced during Small Business Week beginning Monday, May 4.
