City Council Special Budget Workshop on Tuesday, June 27 at 9 a.m.
Topics include overviews of the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office budget, the Strategic Action Plan, the Community Development Department, Business Recruitment Incentives, and a Facility Assessment of Fire Station 22.
Palm Coast – The Palm Coast City Council meets regularly to discuss and vote on official City business. These meetings are open to the public, and Palm Coast residents are strongly encouraged to attend. Increasing public engagement helps build a stronger sense of community, increases valuable discussions, and decreases division.
Presentations
Details of the agenda items are listed below:
- The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office will present an overview to assist City Council during the upcoming budget preparations. The City of Palm Coast does not have its own police department and instead contracts with the Sheriff’s Office for enhanced law enforcement services throughout the City.
- City administration will present an overview of Strategic Action Plan projects. Over the course of the Strategic Action Plan Evaluation Process, City Council directed staff to provide a timeline, budget projections, and the resources needed to implement the adopted City Council Priorities. Staff will provide a presentation that details this information for City Council consideration and feedback.
- The Community Development Department will present an update of their department to assist Council during the upcoming budget preparations. This overview will detail the current operational workload, successful business-friendly initiatives, and future opportunities.
- The Economic Development Division will present information on the types of incentives that are possible for business recruitment and business expansion that will help to diversify the city’s business industry sectors.
- The Stormwater & Engineering Department will present a Facility Assessment of Fire Station 22. This assessment outlines the steps required to repurpose Fire Station 22 to preserve its historical value and expand visitor awareness in Palm Coast. A contract to provide professional design services was awarded to Schenkel Schultz Architecture. Included in the scope of work was for the design professional to assess the existing Fire Station 22 and provide a report on the facility identifying deficiencies, possible future uses, remediation methods, and an estimate of probable cost. This presentation is to review the results of the report.
Public Comments will be opened at the beginning and end of the business meeting in accordance with Section 286.0114 Florida Statutes and pursuant to the City Council’s Meeting Policies and Procedures. Each speaker will approach the podium, provide his/her name and may speak for up to 3 minutes. Comment cards are available for contact information in order for staff to follow up with each speaker.
Meetings of the Palm Coast City Council typically occur three times per month. A 6 p.m. business meeting on the first Tuesday of the month, a 9 a.m. workshop meeting on the second Tuesday of the month, and a 9 a.m. business meeting on the third Tuesday of the month. All meetings take place in the Community Wing at City Hall at 160 Lake Avenue in Palm Coast.
