Palm Coast – The City of Palm Coast will once again look to start residents off on the right foot in 2023 with the return of the Mayors 30/30 Challenge. The event, which has focused primarily on fitness in past years, will take on a broader scope this year – encouraging participants to dedicate 30 minutes per day over the course of the event, focusing on their overall health and wellness, including everything from exercise, self-care, focus and stress relief.
Participants may complete their 30 minutes of daily activity on their own but are encouraged to attend any of the official community activities that will be held over the duration of the event, which will start with a Kick-Off Walk on Friday January 6 at 5pm at Central Park and conclude with the Tunnel to Towers 5K Run Walk on Saturday, February 4 at 8am, which will also be held at Central Park. Other events include a Nature Walk, a Gopher Tortoise Walk, a Pickleball Tournament, and a Ruck that will all be held at different venues throughout the Palm Coast area. All official activities will be hosted by the City of Palm Coast Parks and Recreation Staff, who have worked to incorporate all aspects of wellness into this year’s events schedule.
“The beginning of a new year is a great time for a fresh start and a fresh outlook on your overall personal wellness,” said James Hirst, Director of Parks and Recreation. “Whether that’s taking part in a nature walk, taking your dog for a walk, going to a yoga class or playing in our Pickleball tournament, we wanted to make this year’s event something that was accessible to everyone and help them develop good habits that they can continue to use throughout 2023 and beyond.”
The Mayors 30/30 Challenge will run from January 6 to February 4, 2023. Residents are encouraged to register for all events and dates are subject to change in case of inclement weather.
