FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – With a fun filled atmosphere, The Landing Strip was crowded with parties and those willing to help the Flagler County Education Foundation reach their goal of two thousand dollars. With six community celebrities willing to serve at The Landing Strip for the night, the tip jars were filling up fast.

Joe Wright, the co-owner of The Landing Strip and current President of the Flagler County Education Foundation, was happy to host the event.

“We love helping our community. We enjoy all the camaraderie of the people getting together. It’s an all-around good time,” said Wright.

Flagler County Education Foundation Assistant Director of Fund Development Sam Adams and Flagler Education Foundation President Joe Wright put their heart and soul into supporting the Flagler County Education Foundation’s programs all year long.

In his opinion, the Education Foundation not only aids the children, but the entire area. “It lifts up the community in a way – they say high tides raise all boats. If we can help the least, we’ll help all.”

The celebrity servers were equally grateful to the community for their support, as well as the opportunity to give back to the schools and community which have propped them up.

Samantha Adams, Assistant Director of Fund Development for the Flagler County Education Foundation, enjoyed serving and stated her thoughts on being a local celebrity.

“I don’t know if I would call myself a celebrity, but we definitely are out in the public a lot,” she said.

“We serve our community, so we want to truly serve our community by putting our feet on the ground and getting out there, whether it’s part of networking groups, or local businesses, organizations or just getting some other people here and what they need support on and trying to find a way to get the yes.”

Local KIX Country 98.7 FM DJ Lacy Martin raised nearly $500 at the end of her shift and waiting to see the finally tally from Ed Foundation officials, which includes online donations.

“I was honored to participate in VIP night at The Landing Strip Tavern because I knew it would be a fun time getting the community together for a nice meal while raising money for the students of Flagler County,” said Martin.

“Funny story, LaShakia Moore and I share the same initials and it became a battle between the LMs! We had a blast encouraging patrons to up their tips for the Flagler County Education Foundation.”

“We raised over $3000 to benefit our “Make It Happen” funds. These funds contribute to our yearly occurrences from Flagler Schools educators and families to support in unique and challenging situations that require a miraculous response,” shared Adams.
“Make It Happen funds students, teachers, and families to navigate the most difficult challenges, like homelessness, losing a loved one, or needing emergency food assistance.”
“The participants were Superintendent LaShakia Moore, City Commissioner Andy Dance, Radio Host Kevin Kane and Kirk Keller, Candidate Darryl Boyer, and our Public Relations Chair (for the Flagler County Education Foundation) Lacy Martin. We had a special guest arrival of Sheriff Rick Staly. Our winner, raising the most funds was our very own Superintendent LaShakia Moore with over $600 donated.”
