Palm Coast, FL – They’re the people you most likely don’t want to see as a home or business owner, but they perform a valuable service in keeping Palm Coast beautiful.

Sharing a story of his own with code enforcement, Palm Coast City Councilman Eddie Branquinho presented Code Enforcement Manager Barbara Grossman and Code Compliance Supervisor Luis Mendez with a recognition, declaring June 6 – June 10th as Code Enforcement Officers Week on behalf of the Palm Coast City Council during their June 7th business meeting.

“If you don’t think they are heroes, think again. They enforce laws that we create and for that you deserve the proclamation that I’m about to read,” said Branquinho before the assembled.

“We’re very honored to be recognized during Code Enforcement Officer Appreciation Week because we do a lot for the community and we want them to keep Palm Coast beautiful and we’ll continue what we do,” said Grossman.

Mendez, a member of the city’s team since 2007, knows it can be challenging for the officers on the street, but says they still love the work they perform on behalf of the citizens.

“Our job is probably a little easier than our officers. It’s a routine, a repetition, and they go out and do what they do,” said Mendez. “The staff also supports them and they continue to do a great job.”

Grossman, a 30-year member of the Palm Coast community is proud of the work of her team and the city for setting high standards.

“We’re very proud (of the people we work with). We have a good organization, the city is a great place to work for and we in code have a staff of 26 to include code enforcement, animal control and urban forestry, and we continue to work every day to keep Palm Coast beautiful,” she said.
