Daytona Beach, FL – The region’s top oral and facial surgical practice becomes the only one to reach “Diamond” status for its use of the Yomi® Robotic System in Florida. Florida Oral & Facial Surgical Associates is the only practice in Volusia and Flagler Counties using Yomi and now it’s being listed as a Yomi Diamond Center of Excellence. Two of its doctors are also designated as Yomi Platinum and Diamond Doctors of Excellence.
Yomi is the first and only FDA-cleared system for robotic-guided dental surgery in the United States. It allows the surgeons to use a CT scan of the patient to create a 3-D image and virtually plan the implant surgery. The computerized navigational system then gives the dental surgeons real-time visual and audio feedback during surgery and provides physical cues that guide the surgeon’s hand to the precise angle and location for the planned dental implant.
To be designated as a Yomi Diamond Center of Excellence, Florida Oral & Facial Surgical Associates’ doctors John Akers, D.D.S.; Roger Thayer, D.M.D., M.A., F.A.C.S.; and Bradley Pinker, D.D.S., M.D. had to meet certain criteria:
- Provide patients with education about the Yomi Robotic System prior to the dental procedure
- Demonstrate clinical expertise by performing a minimum of 175 dental implants annually using the Yomi Robotic System
- Must have a Robotic Coordinator or Robotic Director responsible for implementing the robotics program that follows best clinical practices in accordance with Yomi training
Dr. Thayer was designated a Yomi Platinum Doctor of Excellence, meaning he has performed at least 100 dental implants annually, including anterior, posterior, and bilateral cases, plus a 3+ implant case all using Yomi.
Dr. Pinker was designated a Yomi Diamond Doctor of Excellence. For this achievement he had to perform a minimum of 125 dental implants annually using Yomi, as well as perform the cases of a Platinum level, along with a dual partial arch case and single full arch case.
