PALM COAST, Fla. — Young authors across Flagler Schools are preparing to bring their stories to life as the Josh Crews Creative Writing Project launches another year.
School coordinators and community sponsors gathered at The Landing Strip Tavern to kick off the project, which helps students develop their writing skills, discover their unique voices and see their work on the published page. Their support carries forward Josh’s legacy while encouraging the next generation of storytellers.
Alongside efforts to nurture young writers, Flagler Schools and the Flagler County Education Foundation are inviting families to strengthen reading skills through Community Literacy Night on Wednesday, October 7, at 5:30 p.m.
Presented by New Worlds Reading, the UF Lastinger Center and the education foundation, the event will take place at Lewis E. Wadsworth Elementary School, 4550 Belle Terre Parkway in Palm Coast.
Families can learn practical strategies to support reading at home and receive on-site application assistance for New Worlds Reading. Free food will be provided for registered participants.
Families already enrolled in New Worlds Reading are encouraged to bring a friend who has not yet enrolled and share the opportunity to receive free books.
Participants are encouraged to preregister.
