PALM COAST, Fla. — The community is invited to come together on Friday, September 11, 2026, to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks at the annual 9/11 Memorial Tribute Climb, held at the beautiful Hammock Beach Golf Resort & Spa, located at 200 Ocean Crest Drive in Palm Coast.
Participation is completely free, and attendees do not have to complete the climb to take part in this meaningful day of remembrance. Community members are encouraged to attend the public memorial ceremony beginning at 8:15 a.m. to honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost, recognize the bravery and sacrifice of our nation’s first responders and ensure that future generations understand the importance of September 11, 2001.
The ceremony will include remarks and presentations from local students, our fire chief, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office chief deputy and recipients of the 9/11 Memorial Tribute Climb scholarships. Attendees will also experience a moving bagpipe performance, a tribute from local Junior ROTC students, an American flag flyover and additional special presentations honoring those who answered the call on September 11 and in the days, months and years that followed.
At precisely 8:46 a.m., the climb will begin in remembrance of the moment American Airlines Flight 11 struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center. Climbers will complete 110 flights of stairs, representing the height of the World Trade Center towers. Participants may climb at their own pace and are not required to complete all 110 flights.
For those who choose not to climb, simply attending the ceremony is a powerful way to show support, pay tribute and stand beside local first responders and their families.
The 9/11 Memorial Tribute Climb is more than a memorial event. It is also a fundraiser supporting educational opportunities for local students and first responders pursuing careers or advancement in law enforcement, emergency medical services, paramedicine and nursing. Proceeds help provide scholarships that strengthen the future of emergency response and public safety in the Flagler County community.
As the nation observes the 25th anniversary of September 11, organizers hope residents, families, students, businesses and community leaders will join together for this important milestone.
“This is a day to pause, remember and teach the next generation about the lives we lost, the heroes who responded and the unity our country experienced,” said Lacy Martin. “Whether you climb, attend the ceremony or simply stand with us in remembrance, your presence matters.”
