Get your binoculars out!

Each February, bird enthusiasts around the world unite for the four-day Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC), a global citizen science effort that helps researchers better understand bird populations. By observing and recording birds just before spring migration begins, participants provide a vital snapshot of avian activity across the globe.

Getting involved is easy and rewarding. Simply spend at least 15 minutes observing birds on one or more days during the count, then submit your sightings using the Merlin Bird ID or eBird app or website. You can participate from your own backyard or explore one of the locations featured on the Birding Trail.

Now is the time to take part. Grab your binoculars, step outside, and help make a difference for birds worldwide. Join thousands of volunteers and lend your voice to conservation—visit the Great Backyard Bird Count website today to learn more, register, and start counting.
