City Repertory Theatre of Palm Coast adds a new play to its 15th Anniversary season with a brilliant satire from Tony-Award winning, African-American playwright George C. Wolfe, The Colored Museum. Biting and hilarious, this show, which runs from February 20 – March 1, has electrified, discomforted and delighted audiences of all colors, redefining our ideas of what it means to be Black in contemporary America, ever since its premiere in 1986.
Presented as a series of interconnected “exhibits” or skits, Wolfe’s play is a theatrical powerhouse, inviting audiences into a satirical museum where the exhibits aren’t just relics of the past but living, breathing commentaries on Black identity, assimilation, and stereotypes.
Director Sal Jones leads six of CRT’s best young actors – Laniece Fagundes, Brent Jordan, Melinda Morais, Kelvin Niebla, Vanessa Pearson, and Phillipa Rose – through this provocative and seriously funny tour that Wolfe himself described as “both an exorcism and a party.” Jones comes to CRT from Jacksonville. With over thirty plus years of theater experience, he has directed and produced more than fifty productions including Godspell, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, School House Rock, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, Forever Plaid, Little Shop of Horrors, A Christmas Story, The Graduate, Good Boys, Ain’t Misbehavin’, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, 13 The Musical, and Who Will Sing For Lena? – a National Award Winner.
Wolfe, a six-time Tony Award winner, has also won Drama Desk, Outer Critics’ Circle, DramaLogue and Obie awards for his directing and writing. Additional awards and distinctions include Actors’ Equity Association’s Paul Robeson Award; the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers’ Calloway Award, the Bessie Award, the George Oppenheimer/Newsday Award and the Lambda Liberty Award. He was named “a living landmark” by the New York Landmarks Conservancy, and also was honored as a “Library Lion” by the New York Public Library.
Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm, and Sundays at 3 pm, February 20 – March 1, 2026.Tickets are available at crtpalmcoast.com or by calling the box office at 386-585-9415.
