A monthly training series sponsored through a partnership with Flagler County Emergency Management and conducted by Flagler Volunteer Services in coordination with local organizations to engage and educate local volunteers that wish to serve during times of emergencies or disasters.

Winter 2024 Class

LEARN TO BE THE FIRST RESPONDER –

UNTIL THE FIRST RESPONDERS ARRIVE

 

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during CERT exercises, members can assist their community or workplace following an emergency event when professional responders are not immediately available to help.

 

The following is the schedule for the Winter CERT Basic Training Class.  Classes will be at the Flagler County Emergency Operations Center from 9:00 a.m. – 12 noon * WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE LAST DAY WHICH WILL RUN FROM 9-4 AND LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED.

Tuesday, January 30 —Disaster Preparedness

Wednesday, January 31 — CERT Organization

Thursday, February 1 —Disaster Medical Operations—Part 1

Tuesday, February 6 —Disaster Medical Operations—Part 2

Wednesday, February 7—Disaster Psychology

Thursday, February 8 — Fire Safety & Utility Controls

Tuesday, February 13 — Light Search & Rescue Operations

Wednesday, February 14—CERT & Terrorism

Thursday, February 15 — Course Review, Final Exam & Simulation Brief – MORNING 9-12

Disaster Simulation and Graduation – AFTERNOON 1-4

 

 

Attendance is necessary at ALL sessions

to receive certification.

(If unable to attend a session, it can be made up in our summer class. You will then receive your certificate upon completion)

 

 

Upon completion of the classes,

volunteers will receive a free T-shirt!
