Flagler County, Fla. (October 23, 2023) – The Flagler Tiger Bay Club is pleased to welcome Scenic America President Mark Falzone for the November luncheon meeting.
A three-time America Society of Association Executives Award Winner, Mark is a champion for scenic beauty, authoring legislation to revive the National Scenic Byway Program and securing funding through Congressional appropriations to support the program, with a goal of dedicated funding through future highway transportation legislation.
As the President of Scenic America Mark has helped support efforts to protect the scenic integrity of communities across America securing provisions for the utility undergrounding as part of the 2021 Infrastructure and Jobs Investment Act, and Scenic America has been instrumental in protecting the Highway Beautification Act of 1965, all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Prior to his arrival at Scenic America, Mark served as Deputy Director of the National Immigration Forum, and before that was a five-term elected member of the House of Representatives in Massachusetts. As a member of the National Conference of State Legislatures, he was twice elected to the Executive Committee.
In December 2022, Mark was appointed to the 12-member Route 66 Centennial Commission by President Joe Biden, to study and recommend activities ahead of the 100th anniversary of “The Mother Road” in 2026.
