Palm Coast – The City of Palm Coast is announcing a minor adjustment to the electric vehicle (EV) charging services available at City Hall, 160 Lake Ave.

Starting November 1, 2023, the EV charging station located at City Hall will be implementing a new fee structure. The new pricing structure will include an 18 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) charge, in addition to a nominal 50 cents fee to initiate the charging process.

In addition to the revised fee structure, the City of Palm Coast is introducing a new policy regarding idling at the charging stations. Once a vehicle’s battery is fully charged, users will be allowed a 30-minute grace period to return to their vehicle and unplug it. After this grace period, a fee of $5 per hour will be instated for each hour the vehicle remains connected to the charging station.

The City understands the importance of balancing the costs associated with maintaining and operating the charging infrastructure while ensuring that EV owners have access to convenient and affordable charging options. These updates will help cover operational expenses and promote responsible usage of the EV charging stations.

Key details of the new EV charging fee structure at City Hall:

18 cents per kWh of electricity consumed.
50 cents to initiate the charging session.
After a vehicle is fully charged, users have a 30-minute grace period.
A $5 per hour fee will apply for idling beyond the grace period.
Payments will be made by using the ChargePoint application on the user’s smartphone.
