Flagler/St. Johns County A1A, FL – The Friends of A1A Scenic & Historic Coastal Byway are set to host the 13th annual Kids Ocean Day Florida event on May 7th. As part of the event, a poster contest takes place each year featuring works by Flagler Palm Coast High School Digital Design students under the direction of Mr. Ed Beckett, with an official selection presented by the Friends of A1A Board of Directors and a “People’s Choice” selection chosen by the public.

“One year we received so many great entries that we created a second category – “People’s Choice” to allow an additional student the opportunity for recognition,” said byway administrator Danielle Anderson.

This year’s contest drew 23 submissions and voters may view the creations on the Friends of A1A Facebook page, and click “Like” to indicate which poster they like the most. Voting ends on Tuesday, April 20th and the winners will be announced after the April board of director’s meeting on April 28th.

“It’s a fantastic way to introduce students the Friends of A1A, and get them engaged,” said Anderson. “It also allows the community to see the artistic talent we have here locally.”

The Official Selection comes with a certificate for the student’s portfolio and $100 prize, while “People’s Choice” includes a certificate and $50.
